This Digest reports the findings of the Designing Roofs with Safety in Mind Partners in Innovation project sponsored by the Department of Trade and Industry. Under CDM regulations, roof designers are ultimately responsible for ensuring that the design is a safe one for the people who construct, maintain or demolish it. DG493 gives guidance on how they may achieve this, e.g. reducing as much as possible the need to regularly access the roof and making provision for the use of ladders and safety harnesses. 6 pages.
