BRE featured in centenary publication - Monarchy and Democracy: A History of Leadership

BRE features in a new centenary publication, Monarchy and Democracy: A History of Leadership, launching today at an event in the grounds of Westminster Abbey.

A History of Parliament project, the fully illustrated, two-volume work is written by a team of leading academics and award-winning authors. It examines the past 100 years, exploring the role the Crown has played in the development of democracy across the UK and the Commonwealth. A select group of organisations have been chosen for inclusion, recognised for their leadership in innovation, sustainability and governance.

BRE's contribution appears in the sustainable leadership section, reflecting our position as a global standard-setter in the built environment. It highlights how, as an independent, science-led organisation, BRE has shaped the design, construction and operation of buildings and infrastructure for more than a century, and that this work extends beyond buildings to the millions of people worldwide who benefit every day from better, more sustainable places to live, work and learn.

The piece also speaks to BRE's continued leadership today: using evidence, data and insight to support better decision-making, responding to growing global demand for resilient, low-carbon buildings, and helping to inspire the next generation to shape the future of the built environment.
