RHS joins The Biophilic Office as a dissemination partner

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), one of the world’s largest gardening charities, has joined The Biophilic Office project as the latest dissemination partner.

Founded in 1804 to inspire passion and excellence in the science, art and practice of horticulture, the RHS vision is to enrich everyone’s life through plants and make the UK a greener and more beautiful place.

The RHS believe everyone in every village, town and city should benefit from growing plants to enhance lives, build stronger, healthier, happier communities and create better places to live.

“We are delighted to welcome RHS as a dissemination partner” says Flavie Lowres of BRE. “Dissemination partners are an important part of our project, promoting the project to their members and engaging in the creation of project outputs that will be used by practitioners.”

Dr Tijana Blanusa, RHS Principal Horticultural Scientist commented “At the time when most of us spend majority of our day indoors, plants play an important role in people’s health and wellbeing.  RHS scientists are carrying out research to understand how the choice of planting impacts some of these benefits.”

The Biophilic Office project focuses on a nature-inspired refurbishment of an ageing 1980s office building on the BRE campus in Watford. It features before and after monitoring and evaluation of the occupants, to demonstrate the positive benefits of human-centred design and wellness.
