Environmental Technology Verification

General
Our Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) scheme verifies the performance claims of innovative, environmentally beneficial technologies.
Article

The ETV scheme helps you build credibility and market recognition for your innovative technology. Our independent verifications are carried out in accordance with the international standard ISO 14034.

About Environmental Technology Verification

Successfully marketing innovative and environmentally beneficial products can be difficult, simply because they are new or offered by a company unknown to the industry. New technologies often can’t be tested against industry standards and certification schemes.

This is where ETV can help.

ETV is a flexible and user-friendly process designed to help innovators and developers gain market recognition for their products. BRE Global is a UKAS accredited ETV verification body with extensive knowledge of environmental technologies. We offer expert ETV services for innovative technologies for the built environment.

Benefits of ETV

Our team will help you to demonstrate the benefits of your product to an international audience. With our extensive in-house testing capabilities, industry networks and vast experience, we work alongside you to develop and implement a bespoke and fully costed verification plan.
On successfully completing the verification we will issue you with a Verification Report and Verification Statement that you can use to:

  • Provide independent proof, from an industry respected organisation, that your product does what it claims to.
  • Give financiers and customers the confidence they need to invest in your product.
  • Support commercial bids and public tenders.
  • Save the time and expense of repeating tests and demonstrations for different clients.

The ETV process

1. Application

The first step is for you to complete an application form that provides us with the information we need to determine whether your technology is eligible for the ETV scheme and whether your performance claim is, in principle, verifiable. This stage of the process is free and without obligation.

2. Pre-verification

We prepare a verification contract which will include detailed costing for the following stages:

  • Verification planning
  • Verification
  • Reporting
  • Publication
3. Verification plan

With your involvement, we prepare a verification plan which defines the parameters applicable to your technology’s performance claim and the method of assessment.

4. Testing and verification

If you haven’t conducted any testing, or the testing you have conducted doesn’t meet the requirements of the verification plan, BRE may be able to perform the required testing

If you have already conducted testing that meets the requirements of the verification plan, this can be submitted for assessment.
We assess whether the test data support your performance claim.

5. Verification report

When the testing and verification are complete we produce a verification report which contains details of the evaluation process, test results, and verification results.

6. Verification statement

Once your technology’s performance claim has been successfully verified we issue you with a verification statement which summarises the verification report and includes the verified performance claim.

7. Publication

The verification report and verification statement are listed and available to download from BRE Global’s GreenBookLive.
