The Peninsula London. Built to endure. Engineered to perform.
Sustainable luxury, delivered through long-term performance, resilience and operational efficiency
The Peninsula London demonstrates how sustainable luxury can be realised through a rigorous focus on building performance - enhancing both guest experience and long-term asset value.
Developed and operated by The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, the project was conceived as a 100-year asset - designed to maintain performance, efficiency and relevance over time. A fabric-first approach, supported by efficient systems and advanced controls, reduces energy demand while ensuring consistent operational performance and supporting the comfort, wellbeing and expectations of guests and building users.
Achieving BREEAM Excellent (72.75%) and operating significantly beyond regulatory carbon benchmarks, the building reflects a performance-led, multidisciplinary approach. Design intent has been carried through to operation, supported by independently assured performance data, verified by KPMG, providing confidence that outcomes are robust, reliable and realised in practice.
The result is a building where environmental performance is integral to quality - shaping not only how the asset operates, but how it is experienced day to day. This supports operational efficiency, reduces risk and enhances long-term value for owners, operators and occupants alike.
Located in London — home of the BREEAM Awards — The Peninsula London provides a clear example of what can be achieved when sustainability is embedded from the outset. It demonstrates how buildings can be designed as long-life assets, engineered for performance, and aligned with the needs of people and the future of the built environment.
