The basic principles of programming can be applied to almost all types of new construction, but the purpose of this Digest is to describe their particular application to traditional house-building and to illustrate a method of programming that has been studied and developed over the past two or three years by the Building Research Station. It has been applied successfully by a number of builders on actual contracts during this period and experience shows that the relatively small cost of preparing a programme will be more than offset by the resulting reduction in building costs and building time.
