The basis of assessment of sound insulation in houses and flats, the grading system, has been described in part 1 (Digest no. 88) and the construction of party walls to meet the different grades was also discussed there. This Digest (no.89) now considers sound insulation gradings (against airborne sound and impact sound) of concrete floors and wooden floors.
Various types of concrete floor construction are listed in a table, with the insulation grading each is likely to give in practice. Ditto for wood-joist floors.
This is the revised 1963 edition with an Addendum from June 1964. There was a later version incorporating all amendments published in 1965.
