The basis of assessment of sound insulation in houses and flats, the grading system, has been described in part 1 (Digest no. 88) and the construction of party walls to meet the different grades was also discussed therein. This Digest now considers sound insulation gradings (against airborne sound and impact sound) of concrete floors and wooden floors.
