This report describes work undertaken as part of the in-situ concrete frame building project at Cardington. The objective of the project was to re-engineer the business process of such buildings in order to reduce costs, increase speed and improve quality. The need, established through industry-based studies, was addressed by a thorough re-appraisal of the supply chains and construction processes. A full-scale seven-storey in-situ advanced reinforced concrete building frame designed to Eurocode 2 by Buro Happold was constructed in the BRE Cardington Laboratory encompassing a range of different concrete mixes and construction techniques. Recommendations have been made which should improve the efficiency of the concreting process and construction as a whole without compromising the quality of the finished structure. 121 pages.
