This two-part digest gives, in Part 1 (Digest 197), guidance on the choice of paints and other coatings for internal and external walls according to the appearance and life required and the type of substrate. It discusses plasters, cement and concrete, bricks and stone, but excludes metal, wood and plastics. Part 2 (Digest 198) gives information on the adverse factors which affect paint on wall surfaces and ways of identifying and remedying defects.
