Painting metals in buildings.
THIS PUBLICATION HAS BEEN ARCHIVED.
Whilst this publication can still be purchased some of the information in it has been superseded by more recent research and standards. The BRE Group does not accept any responsibility whatsoever for any loss or damage, including - without limitation - indirect or consequential loss or damage arising from use, or loss of use, of data or profits arising out of, or in connection with, the use of this document.
This Digest, based largely on British Standard Code of Practice CP231 (1952), deals with the preparation of the surface for painting, the choice of paints and with some points affecting application.
A later correction points out that sand blasting is not allowed in factories and that therefore the following changes should be made to the text:
The last sentence on page 1 should read:
"The method is sometimes used on site by specialist firms; grit (non-siliceous) or shot blasting is suitable for use in a factory."
In the second column in the Table on page 2 opposite Iron and Steel, the word "Sand" should be altered to "Grit or Shot".
Superseded by Digests 70 and 71 (Second Series).
