This report considers current approaches to modelling degradation mechanisms that can affect concrete and how these can be used in service life design. Models based on BRE data have been developed for carbonation and chloride ingress and are compared with those given in the literature. Various protection strategies for reinforced concrete are briefly described. 84 pages.
