Loads on roofs from snow drifting against vertical obstructions and in valleys

A new British Standard for imposed roof loads contains guidance on design for snow loads; this includes snow drifting against vertical obstructions and in Digest which dealt with this subject (Digest 290) due to the incorporation of additional criteria in the determination of the snow load shape coefficients, due to different assumptions for the use of the drift snow loads in design and due to the use of different symbols for the various parameters.
This Digest is consistent with the new British Standard but retains the background information included in Digest 290. Additionally it now includes an example of a calculation of drift snow loads on a roof.
This Digest was withdrawn in 1999.
