Green gluing differs from the conventional method of dry gluing because bonding is undertaken when the timber has a high moisture content (between 18% and 200%) in the green state. The timber is then dried after bonding. The process upgrades low-value timber by removing defects and sorting and/or gluing the remaining sections. Green gluing has the potential to improve the use of the UK's forest resource. This Information Paper reports on the technical and commercial feasibility of creating a green gluing enterprise in the Greenwood Community Forest in the East Midlands. Results from the study strongly indicate that this enterprise would be commercially viable. It also outlines the steps required for its implementation. 8 pages.
