This leaflet describes the general structural details of Forrester-Marsh house construction. Fifty houses of this type are known to have been built in London in the early 1920s. The system consists of external concrete cavity walls cast in-situ. The outer leaf of the cavity wall is cast with normal dense gravel aggregate concrete and the inner leaf is cast clinker aggregate concrete. The two leaves are tied together by special wall ties. Solid internal walls are constructed simultaneously with the external walls and rounded angles of any radius can be incorporated into the design. The first floor and roof are of traditional timber construction. This leaflet is a compilation of extracts from several sources. It does not encompass all variations and some construction details may vary from those given.
