Fire spread between caravans (Scanned copy)
Please note that this is a scanned copy of a paper originally published in 1991, so the text and photographs are not as clear as in documents created as pdf files.
Describes work carried out by FRS to examine whether to change the recommended spacing difference between park homes (mobile homes) and holiday caravans kept on a permanent site (touring caravans were excluded). Ignitability tests were conducted on samples of caravan material and two complete caravans (one holiday caravan and one park home) were fire tested (set on fire). Construction materials, combustible items kept near the caravans and the use of fire screens were factors considered. It is recommended that for park homes the requirement should remain at 6 metres. There should be restrictions on the placing of combustible items within separation boundaries.
