The need to provide increased fire resistance to existing timber doors often arises under requirements issued under fire or building control. The effectiveness of a fire door depends on the performance of the whole assembly of door, frame and furniture.
This leaflet describes how existing timber doors can be upgraded to meet the stability and integrity criteria of Type 1 and 2 half-hour doors in a fire test.
