Following a series of fires within structural elements and roof spaces, the 1976 building regulations introduced provisions for cavity barriers. This Digest which is published in two parts discusses the practical problems in choosing appropriate materials and considers the methods of fabricating and erecting cavity barriers and fire stops in a number of typical situations.
Digest 215 is Part 2 and describes further typical situations. It can be found here.
