The current climate in social housing provision emphasises the importance of "innovation", "Egan compliance", "KPIs", etc. The need of social housing providers to minimise initial build and life cycle costs has made them receptive to new ideas on forms of construction and procurement. Many innovative ideas have been tried in demonstration or trial projects with much effort being put into the design and procurement stages but few of these projects have been revisited after a period of occupation to find out whether they have lived up to the expectations of the various parties involved. This report presents the results of a review of twelve social housing projects in the UK that incorporated an element of innovation. The information gathered has been compiled into a series of case studies that appear in the Appendix. A summary of the findings of the survey is given at the start of the report. 54 pages.
