A member of the Construction Innovation Hub, BRE was delighted to support the roll-out of a new ‘Value Toolkit’ that'll help deliver more sustainable outcomes.

As members of the Construction Innovation Hub, BRE is delighted to support the roll-out of its new industry ‘Value Toolkit’ which will lay the groundwork for a transformation in the way decisions are made across the sector.

Designed to deliver more sustainable outcomes, the Toolkit will comprise a group of four new measures to ensure a transparent, consistent and customisable approach to improving the results of construction projects by supporting value-based decision-making throughout the investment lifecycle.

This Toolkit will also help clients to establish a value profile for each project or programme which will be shaped by strategic policy ambitions, such as achieving the net zero carbon target. At the same time, it will also help them select the best Delivery Model and Commercial Strategy to maximise the realisation of value. Crucially, it will allow procurement choices to be made on delivery of best whole-life value, ensuring they are sustainable and viable.

BRE’s mission has always been to drive innovation in the built environment, and the current working climate – which has been brought about by the lockdown, has given a renewed sense of urgency when looking at building design, with a focus on performance and compliance. Most of us spend nearly all our professional and leisure time in buildings, and they will need to function better as more people work from home more often. Working with our partners in the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) and the Centre for Digital Built Britain (CDBB), the Hub aims to change the way buildings and infrastructure are designed, manufactured, integrated and connected within our built environment.

Building on the Construction Leadership Council’s Roadmap to Recovery, the Toolkit has launched at an important time for UK construction that has also seen support from the Government for a ‘green recovery’ from the pandemic.
