Dr Julie Bregulla, BRE's Technical Director, elected as Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering

The Academy’s Fellows represent the nation’s best engineering researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, business and industry leaders. Election to the Academy is by invitation only in recognition of outstanding and continuing contributions to engineering. 53 leading UK and international engineers were elected this year to help the Academy “use the power of engineering to build a sustainable society and create an inclusive economy that works for everyone”.

Julie has been recognised by the RAEng for her influential work and contribution to safety and innovation in the built environment and will now be distinguished by the title ‘Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering’ and the postnominal FREng.

Dr Julie Bregulla specialises in construction regulation/legislation, standardisation and underpinning evidence. Her continued work and energy in this field enables the translation of complex and interrelated requirements, professional and societal, to deliver safety, quality and productivity.

Her work is wide-ranging in impact: From developing applied research, testing and certification in support of the most innovative projects in the UK and abroad, to representing the UK national position at key industry code and regulatory committees. She has worked in academia, consulting and construction, giving her a blended experience in the multi-faceted interactions of engineering practice.

I look forward to collaborating and contributing to engineering for a sustainable built environment and society.
