BREEAM Infrastructure aims to deliver improved project specification, design, and construction of civil engineering works.
It’s a rating scheme that enables clients, designers and contractors to go beyond the baseline to achieve distinctive environmental and social performance in their work. BREEAM Infrastructure gives project teams influence and support to develop and design in a sustainable way.
The origins of BREEAM Infrastructure
CEEQUAL was launched in 2003, originally developed by a team led by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) , with financial support from the UK Government and from ICE’s Research & Development Enabling Fund.
CEEQUAL fast became a world-leading benchmark for high performing infrastructure. BRE acquired CEEQUAL in 2015 and it is now known as BREEAM Infrastructure. The scheme sits alongside BREEAM, bringing together the world’s leading sustainability assessment methods for buildings, masterplanning and infrastructure
