The Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) is a globally recognised third-party certification body delivering certainty for over 150 years.
Part of BRE, the LPCB has worked with industry and insurers since 1868 to set the standards needed to make sure that fire and security products and services perform effectively.
The LPCB’s Loss Prevention Standards (LPS) are widely recognised and applied in fire and security sectors around the world.

eLearning course: Introduction to Third-Party Certification and its benefits to your organisation
There are several different assessments for products, systems, and services. Of these, third-party certification is the most valuable, due to its independence, thoroughness, and subsequent acceptance in the industry.
This free course provides an overview of what third-party certification is, how it benefits manufacturers, specifiers and end users of fire and security products, systems, and services, and how certification from the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) can help reduce risk and avoid costly mistakes.
How we test your security products
We take third-party certification of fire and security equipment seriously. We rigorously test and evaluate products, supporting documentation and their auditing process, without cutting corners or making any assumptions. BRE’s forced entry testing of physical security equipment is world-famous.
LPCB product certification process
What is product certification?
Certification (or approval) is independent third-party confirmation that a product or system meets and continues to meet the appropriate standard. BRE offers independent third-party certification to existing British, European, International and its own Loss Prevention Standards (LPSs) or Schedules of Requirements.
