McBains Cooper awarded BRE BIM Level 2 business certification

McBains Cooper awarded BRE BIM Level 2 business certification

Multidisciplinary consultancy McBains Cooper is the latest organisation to be awarded BRE Global BIM Level 2 business certification. This achievement independently demonstrates their compliance with the BIM requirements of the UKs largest construction client – the UK government. Delivering professional services in property, infrastructure and construction sectors across the UK, Europe and the Americas, the organisation is involved with a diverse portfolio of projects including Battersea Power Station, the Kings College Estate and Citroen UK. Michael Thirkettle Chief Executive of McBains Cooper said 'At McBains Cooper we have embraced the opportunity for accurate, accessible and consistent digital information sharing that BIM brings to workflows and as such have been using it for several years. As the UK government now requires all centrally procured government contracts to be Level 2 compliant, both clients and our lead suppliers and associated task teams now know we are certified for the delivery of projects using BIM.' Guy Hammersley Director of BIM at BRE said ‘McBains Cooper is a complex and multi-faceted business - achieving BIM level 2 certification means it can bring BIM to bear on so many different types of projects, exponentially increase its take up and share its benefits across different sectors. Well done to them.’ BRE Global’s BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification scheme assesses a business in relation to its BIM capability and policy as outlined in the PAS 1192-2:2013 and PAS 91 standards. It also considers the ability of the business to meet the requirements of an employer to implement BIM on a project. For further information about the BRE and BIM certification please contact Linda McKeown, BRE, emailpressoffice@bregroup.com NOTES TO EDITOR BRE Global BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification scheme assesses a business, based at a single or multiple locations, in relation to the BIM policy and capability defined in PAS 1192-2:2013 and PAS 91. It also assesses the ability of the business to meet the requirements of an employer to carry out a BIM capability assessment. The scheme has been designed to enable certificated businesses to demonstrate compliance with PAS91-2013 section 4.2, so that they will not have to provide evidence of competence each time they undertake a tender.
