BREEAM New Construction Version 7 technical manual now available for feedback
We’re inviting our assessor network, clients and stakeholders to give their feedback on BREEAM, the world’s leading sustainability standard for the built environment. A pre-release of the BREEAM New Construction Version 7 (V7) technical manuals (UK and International), along with a comprehensive Summary of Changes document, are now available for review.
BREEAM New Construction V7 is scheduled for release later this year. This update aims to ensure that BREEAM’s building assessment, benchmarking, and certification criteria remain aligned with the latest scientific data on energy efficiency and net zero carbon, focusing on whole life carbon. Globally, buildings account for over 30% of global energy use and more than a quarter of emissions.
BREEAM V7 will:
- Track a building’s pathway to net zero carbon and include requirements for benchmarking of upfront and embodied carbon
- Place emphasis on the performance of the building rather than the specific processes and metrics that were used to create it
- Add value by using metrics that align with other reporting frameworks such as GRESB, CRREM, EU Taxonomy
- Align metrics across our BREEAM suite of standards to enable consistent carbon measurement and comparability throughout a building’s lifecycle
