Home Quality Mark Training

The Home Quality Mark (HQM) is the new national quality mark designed to give people the confidence that the new homes they are choosing to buy or rent are well designed, well built, and cost effective to run.

To carry out Home Quality Mark Assessments, when the scheme becomes live, you will need to undertake training and obtain a licence. Your existing Code for Sustainable Homes licensed assessor status determines the training route to your HQM qualification. Please see below for your route to HQM assessor status.

HQM Training Flow

Please note if you have been qualified, within the last 12 months, by BRE Global as a Code for Sustainable Homes assessor, but unlicensed, please contact us for further guidance on the appropriate training route to achieve a HQM assessor status.

The above training routes are available until 31 December 2015. In 2016 BRE Academy will be offering full HQM training for candidates wishing to become HQM qualified.

Any candidate wishing to extend their CSH qualification and licence to include HQM assessor status will need to pass an online HQM based competency test prior to applying to become an HQM licensed assessor (there is no additional charge for taking the online test). Delegates attending the HQM training at BRE will be able to undertake the online test after they have attended the training day(s). Please be aware that HQM qualified assessors (i.e. candidates who have successfully completed the training and online test) can apply for the HQM licence when the scheme launches in October 2015.

The dates for this training is now available and can be booked using the links below:
