Independent building science centre BRE has taken over responsibility of YellowJacket, the leading health and safety tool developed by Mace with a view to increasing its use in domestic and international markets. The tool currently has over 12,000 users working on a range of construction projects across the UK.   BRE already has a strong track record with management reporting tools in the contracting sector with its waste minimisation and management tool SMARTWaste. This is currently used on over 3000 live construction sites across the UK and has monitored over 58 million tonnes of waste since 2008. Its sustainability standard BREEAM has been applied to over half a million buildings and homes in over 60 countries around the world. BRE’s experience in developing tools like these will be used to support and enhance the functionality and user experience of YellowJacket into the future. BRE Group’s Business Development Director Miles Watkins said ‘BRE sees a bright future for YellowJacket as the preferred health, safety and quality tool for the construction sector in the UK and overseas markets. Our plan is to invest in the further development of the application. More recognition for the tool and broader adoption will bring even greater value and opportunities to current users of the product.’ The YellowJacket team can be contacted by phone 03330147878 or by email at yellowjacket@bre.co.uk For further information please contact Linda McKeown, BRE email mckeownl@bre.co.uk NOTES TO EDITOR BRE BRE is a world leading building science centre that generates new knowledge through research.
