When the UK exits the European Union (EU), the certifications required for products to be sold in EU markets will need to be obtained through EU notified bodies within the EU. Our expert team at BRE Global Ireland in Dublin will provide the support that manufacturers, importers and distributors of construction products need, before, during and after the UK’s exit from the EU.

Complete CE marking services

BRE Global has been an EU notified body for the testing and certification of wide ranging construction products and systems for many years. We currently provide manufacturers with complete CE marking services for products that are covered by harmonised European Standards and European Technical Assessments under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR). We also provide testing and attestation of conformity services under the Marine Equipment Directive, Pressure Equipment Directive and Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive.

With support from the Irish Government to apply for EU Notified Body status, these activities under the CPR and other directives will transfer across to BRE Global Ireland . The team in Ireland will deliver the services that our current and future clients require – both in the transition of products already in the market, and in supporting new products to the market.

Test laboratory

A new test laboratory will be created in Dublin in 2018, with facilities for our engineers, scientists and technicians to test a range of construction and fire protection products. This $3.5 million investment will enable us to provide expert and independent testing and certification of construction and related products and materials.

We will also be seeking opportunities for undertaking collaborative research projects with partners in Ireland and in other EU countries.

We are very pleased that BRE Global has chosen Ireland as its new base for European activities and CE marking. We look forward to helping the business extend its reach across Europe by exploiting the skills and energy of our scientists and engineers.

Heather Humphreys, Irish Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation
